Students learn about various types of basket making from around the world and create their own coiled yarn baskets. Coil basket of different regions have various style of construction depending upon the materials used in the coil. This was the first time I made the Coil Weave Basket. The Coil Weave Basket is one technique of basketry used by Native Americans across North America. Many cultures around the word have been making coil baskets for centuries. I used different green and different blue to weave. Making the Coil Weave Basket needed to use wrapping and stitching a kind of yarns around a rope. And Those materials are come from the environment. People uses some reeds, grass, and string to make a basket. When I started to make my basket, I do not have idea to make it. Especially the process of making the coil weave basket that use the yarn to cover the sisal rope, and use a needle to make them more strong. It is so difficult to complete the basket and easy to get hurt because the sisal rope has some thorns. After I finished it, I can feel that is not perfect to me, I should more practice to make it good-looking and try to create a special one.
